Notes from a Yoga Retreat in Yelapa, Mexico
Welcome to a week of yoga, sunshine and warm water.
We begin our week on Saturday afternoon in Puerto Vallarta. Coming from different places, we gather at the Pier in Old Town Vallarta. Puerto Vallarta is a a colorful, coastal Mexican City of warmth and charm.
Our days begin with chanting and pranayama in our sweet little yoga room, followed by our active morning practice. We gather again in the late afternoon for restoratives, forward bends and twists.
The Hotel Lagunita is located on the bay of Yelapa, and is a 15 minute walk into the town of Yelapa. There are no cars here and electricity was established only two years ago. There is a feeling of remoteness and serenity on the beach of Lagunita.
The recently renovated rooms at Hotel Lagunita reflect Polynesian and Art Deco motifs. The airy and open rooms all have standard bathrooms, electricity and hot water.
Imagine swimming in this beautiful body of water...
Finishing our practice at 10 am, we leisurely take breakfast and the next six hours are open for relaxation and fun.
With the hotel perched on the edge of the beach, numerous hours can be spent walking, viewing and feeling the enormous presence of the ocean.

Thomas and the girls...
There are several day trips available which take us out of the village and off the beach. You can rent a boat for the day or join us for a group hike up the Lush river valley to a refreshing waterfall.
Finishing our yoga practice at 6 pm, the group gathers again for drinks and a leisurely dinner. Our feet are in the sand and the starry evening sky is the canopy above our heads.
Animals of Yelapa...
Neptuno is the Goddess/God of the deep ocean of consciousness. Here in this glorious tropical setting, the individual comes into contact with the awesome power of nature. Our practice of yoga unites the masculine and feminine elements of our own being and the individual soul merges with supreme consciousness.
